Hadhrat Uthman (Usman) (RA)

Rasulullah (saw) said;

“My companion in Jannah is Uthman”

Name:  Uthman

Title: Zun Nurain.

Birth: He was born 6 years after Rasulullah (saw)

Parents: His Fathers name was Affaan and his mothers name was Arwa.

Virtues: He was among the first people to accept Islam. He had the good fortune of being married to two of the daughters of Rasulullah (saw),Hadhrat Ruqayya (RA) and Hadhrat Umm-e-Kulsoom (RA) one after the other. Therefore he was titled, Zun Nurain (The bearer of two lights). He was joined with Ows bin Saabit (RA) in the Mu-aakhaat (brotherhood). He bought the Bi-re-Roomah (well of Roomah) for the Muslims for 20 000 dirhams. He represented the Muslims on the occasion of the treaty of Hudaybiyyah. He was appointed as the third khalifa of the Muslims after Hadhrat Umar (RA). His period of Khilaafat lasted 11years and 11 months.

Demise:  He was martyred by rebels on Friday 18 Zul Hijjah 35 A.H. whilst reciting the Qur-aan.
