A one-year course in Modern Standard Arabic for beginners.

 
The course is aimed at complete beginners and is designed over 3 terms to enable learners to communicate in Modern Standard Arabic within a limited range of everyday situations using the four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The course introduces the students to the Arabic writing system and enables them to read and write basic words and sentences. Modern Standard Arabic is the recognised means of formal spoken and written communication. It is used throughout the Arabic speaking world on official occasions, in education and the media.

 
The course is taught in English and Arabic using contemporary printed and audio/video material. There is a balance between communicative activities, structure practice, grammar and vocabulary. Class size is normally limited to fifteen students to maximise interactive learning.
